Your Judgment Your Decision

Do the Right Thing.  Do What’s Right.  Make Good Choices (or at least better choices).  You have to be the Good Guy (or Girl).  What does that mean, to Be Good or Do the Right Thing?  What is ‘The Right Thing’?  What is ‘Right’, and by implication, what is ‘Wrong’?

13“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverted mouth, I hate.
Proverbs 8:13 (NASB)

2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
2 Peter 2:2 (KJV)

2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
2 Peter 2:2 (NASB)

101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.
Psalms 119:101 (KJV)

If I present you with any given situation you could probably tell me what you believe the Right or Wrong decision would be in that situation.  From a generic stand point what does it mean to be ‘Good’ or be ‘Right’?

If you are honest with yourself, you will admit you do not always make the ‘Good’ or ‘Right’ choice, I don’t.  Sometimes my human weakness gets the better of me, sometimes I don’t have the energy to go the extra mile making the ‘Right’ choice requires, and sometimes I just ignore what I know to be ‘Right’.

Human frailty is fully understood by the Divine.  God embraces His creations for who and what they are, as they are because He made us.  He knows we will fail.  He knows we will miss His mark.  He knows sometimes we ignore our ‘Better Judgment’.  He loves us anyway because He also knows our potential.  He knows what we can become.  He knows what lies inside each heart.

God already knows what choice you will make this day.  Follow your ‘pernicious ways’ or perhaps step out on a limb and investigate something different.  Discover ‘The Way of the Truth’ this day.  Follow the direction of Proverbs 8:13 that leads you to Psalm 119:101.  Or, you can ignore where His guidance leads and head to Proverbs 28:9. It’s your call…

Questions for Reflection

  • What is ‘Right’ and ‘Wrong’ in a generic sense?
  • Can human beings be ‘Good’ or ‘Right’?  Find scriptural evidence for your assertion.  What are you going to do with this information?
  • Does God care if we are ‘Successful’ at being ‘Good’ or doing ‘The Right Thing’ or is the attempt all that matters? Why or why not?

You are not trash.  You are not wasted.  You are not broken.  You are loved.  You are pursued.  You are wanted, because God says You Are Worthy.

This devotion relates to the scripture used in the book You Are Worthy by Mark Malcolm, coming to Kindle soon.  To be kept up to date on the release of this, and other writings from The Cavalier, join us on Facebook HERE or follow us on Twitter @FirstChevalier.
