Greek Word of the Day – Evil/Blasphemeo (Strongs 987)

Today’s Greek Word of the Day takes a little explaining.  The word is Evil from the Old Testament verse Proverbs 8:13.  I chose 2 Peter 2:2 to get to the Greek word behind ‘Evil’.  The problem is that I usually use the New American Standard Bible translation for these posts, but that translation uses ‘Maligned’ instead of ‘Evil’.  The King James Version, which is my preferred translation, uses Evil in that same place. The good news here is that in both cases the interlinear version for the NASB and KJV use the same Greek word for this, Blasphemeo.  I find it interesting that the King James translators chose the generic English term of Evil while the NASB translators chose Maglined.  You be the judge of which translation speaks more to your heart.
