Today marks the 27th anniversary of the day the space shuttle Challenger exploded over Florida 73 seconds after lift off. All hands were lost. I remember watching that live in surreal and stunned amazement thinking, “This isn’t really happening.” But it was. In the days and weeks that followed investigations were launched and details came out but those of us who had a passion for the Apollo moon missions, Skylab, and space in general were all still in shock. Today, please take a moment to remember those brave astronauts who gave their lives in a the pursuit of something most of us will only ever entertain in our dreams.
