Greek Word of the Day – Truth/Aletheuo (Strongs 226)

4  The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.
Deuteronomy 32:4 (NASB)

4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Deut 32:4 (KJV)

16 So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth ?
Galatians 4:16 (NASB)

Today we have to switch translations of the Bible from the New American Standard Bible to the King James Version.  I usually post scripture from the NASB because most folks don’t like the KJV as much as I do.  However, I start any study I do in the KJV and only branch out to other translations when it gets closer to time to write it for others to read.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your point of view, the word from the verse that drives this week’s devotional isn’t repeated in the New Testament and I’d rather not delve into Hebrew interlinear for the Old Testament.  So, I’m using the KJV translation of the passage for today’s word.  It is very interesting to note how the KJV takes the same Hebrew word and uses it for Truth where the NASB translators, who did use the Textus Receptus as part of their translating guide, use the word Faithfulness.

In any case, the verse used from my book is Deuteronomy 32:4 relating to Faithfulness from the NASB, which is translated as Truth in the KJV.  Finally, I chose Galatians 4:16 as the New Testament appearance for Truth because sometimes I feel like I’m being labeled as The Enemy for just answering a question I was asked truthfully.  Enjoy.
